To help you navigate to success in this complex market, I team up with my colleague, Steve Thornton, an experienced industry executive who offers high-level consulting services for C-Suite management teams and BODs.

My colleague, Steve Thornton, is an independent board professional and healthcare advisor who lives in the Washington D.C. area in the US and has extensive experience of the North American market for devices and pharmaceutical products. Steve currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors for Aerami Therapeutics, a company focused on the development of inhaled therapeutics for chronic diseases. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors for XBolt Orthopaedics, an Ireland-based company that designs, develops and markets a novel hip fixation device.

40 years of senior-level experience
Steve brings over 40 years of broad experience, working within large and small pharmaceutical companies, branded and generic, and medical device and drug delivery companies. This experience was gained with several top-ranked companies, culminating in senior management and executive positions with Eli Lilly, Bayer, Elan, and in SkyePharma Inc., where he served as president until its sale, at which time he was asked to join its board of directors.

Sales, marketing and product development
He has significant experience in sales and marketing, including country management positions. In his recent executive management positions, he was responsible for product development, from formulation and pre-clinical to clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain logistics and full P&L responsibility. He is highly experienced in the areas of in and out licensing of products and has been involved in a variety of startup operations, joint ventures and acquisitions as well as in the building for sale of well-run companies. He was the President & CEO of Bioniche Pharma Inc. and oversaw its significant growth through acquisition and internal development programs until its sale to Mylan Corp through a highly professionally run and high-return process for its then owners.

Most recently, Steve was the President & CEO of Excelsior Medical LLC, one of the largest suppliers of Saline and Heparin pre-filled syringes and disinfection caps in the US, until its sale to ICU Medical and Medline Industries in late 2015.

Advising public and private companies, including private equity
Steve has held numerous board positions and has acted in advisory capacities for both private and public healthcare companies as well as private equity firms.
